2021 PABA "Starpoint" Club Lacrosse FAQs
PABA will once again be offering a high school level club lacrosse program for 9th - 12th grade students. Here are the details:
Q: What is the Starpoint High School Lacrosse Program?
A:This is a "club" level lacrosse team created for the students at Starpoint who desire to play competitive lacrosse for their school. This program is not funded or overseen by the Starpoint Central School District, but instead is provided and administered by the Pendleton Athletic Booster Association (PABA).
Q. Who can register?
A: The program is currently open to all Starpoint students currently in 9th-12th grade.
Q: When is registration?
A: Online registration is currently open. All registrations must be completed online through this website.
Q: When does the season start?
Practices are scheduled to begin in April, with games expected to begin in early May. Games are currently being scheduled by our club lacrosse league, and we should have more information on exact dates in the near future.
Q: Why is registration held so early?
A: We hold registration early so we can promote our lacrosse programs through the schools. It also gives us an opportunity to order the equipment, uniforms and supplies we need before practices begin in March.
Q: Where do you hold your practices?
A: In inclement weather, practices will be held in various Starpoint gymnasiums. As the weather improves, practices will be held on the fields East of Fricano Primary School.
Q: When are practices held?
A: Practices are set to begin in March and the coach will have dates and times once the school lets us know what is available.
Q: Where do you play your games?
A: Home games will be played on the same fields we practice on at Starpoint, while away games are played against other area school club teams in Erie and Niagara Counties.
Q: When are games played?
A: Games are currently being scheduled by our club lacrosse league, and we should have more information on exact dates in the near future, last year games started after school around 4:30pm, games are usually twice a week.
Q: How much does it cost to participate?
A: The registration fee is $150 for each player. This fee includes a Spartans Lacrosse uniform, insurance, and covers field maintenance and fees charged by the league and referees. You can save $50 if you have a uniform that fits from the previous (2020) season. Parents will be responsible to purchase protective equipment, provide transportation and any other extraneous costs. We are currently planning some fundraisers will help pay for any other team needs.
Q: What equipment will I have to buy?
A: The league requires each player to wear gloves, an NOCSEA regulation lacrosse helmet, arm pads, shoulder pads, a mouth guard, and a protective cup. Each player will need a lacrosse stick, and you’ll also probably want to purchase some lacrosse balls to practice at home.
If you child wants to play goalie, PABA will provide a throat guard, chest protector and goalie stick that will be shared by all players who play the position
